Continuing our mission to strengthen digital safety awareness within the Keta community, The SchoolShine Project, in collaboration with Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF), GES Keta, and SandCity Radio 88.9, brought the conversation to the airwaves. Our Director for Outreach and Awareness, Mr. Gabriel Ofori Appiah – DTH,MTH,DTH, joined the station to discuss the realities of the online world and how we can all play a part in protecting the next generation. He shared key perspectives on what GISF brings on board, our commitment to digital education, empowerment, and awareness creation for individuals and communities. The discussion explored the various online exposures young people encounter unknowingly, highlighting how these can affect them in the future if not properly addressed. Mr. Gabriel also emphasized digital rights and responsibilities, and guided listeners on where to seek help or report online abuse, bullying, or harassment. He encouraged the public to reach out through the Cyber Security Authority’s toll-free line (292) or Ghana Internet Safety Foundation ’s helpline (267) for assistance or educational support. He further urged parents to empower themselves digitally and reach out for digital safety education, be it schools, churches, or any other organization seeking to build safer online environments. The conversation also touched on the importance of digital footprints, reminding everyone to think before you post.
