The Digital Safety SmartBox is a physical toolkit that brings online safety learning to life for children, teachers, parents and guardians in classrooms, homes and communities, with or without internet access.
Not every school or community in Ghana has reliable internet, projectors or devices, but every child deserves to learn how to stay safe online. The SmartBox makes that possible anywhere. Each box contains learning materials and accessories that turn online safety lessons into hands-on, memorable activities for different ages and audiences.
The SmartBox draws on the “unplugged” approach used in digital citizenship programmes around the world, where children learn online safety through games, role-play and discussion rather than screens. It is designed for Ghanaian classrooms and communities and can be used again and again.
Our approach is:
Our Child Online Protection Program provides practical knowledge and skills that help children navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
Games and activities that teach privacy, kindness online, spotting risks and asking for help.
Ready-to-use lesson materials for delivering online safety in the classroom with confidence.
Simple guides and conversation starters for talking about online safety at home.
Materials for youth groups, churches, mosques and community leaders to run their own sessions.
Partner with GISF to sponsor SmartBoxes for schools and communities, especially in areas with limited internet access.
