Every meaningful event begins with thoughtful community engagement, and that was our focus ahead of the main event, the Digital Safety Symposium in Keta, organized by The SchoolShine Project in collaboration with the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF), GES Keta, and SandCity Radio. We spent the day engaging key stakeholders, raising awareness, and strengthening community collaboration around digital safety. Our radio discussion at SandCity Radio 88.9 opened meaningful conversations on safe online behavior, digital responsibility, and the importance of protecting young people in an increasingly connected world. We also paid courtesy visits to the Director of Education, the ICT Coordinator, the Chief Inspector of Schools, and the Assembly Members of Keta Central, Kedzikofe, and Vodzi, including the Presiding Member of the Keta Municipal Assembly. These interactions provided a valuable platform to discuss how digital literacy and internet safety education can be integrated into schools to better equip students for a safer digital experience. The enthusiasm and commitment of local leaders reaffirmed our belief that sustainable change begins at the community level. To conclude the day, our team took a reflective tour of Fort Prinzenstein, emancipation resort, and the Keta beach, moments that beautifully tied history, culture, and purpose together.
