Empowering the Next Generation of Cyber Champions 💙 With digital access expanding rapidly in Ghana, equipping students to navigate online spaces safely has never been more critical. On 14th November, our team at the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation visited Headlines Educational Centre and Emmanuel Educational Complex to take a bold step toward safer digital spaces for students. During the visit, we supervised the Online Safety Clubs and trained the Cyber Ambassadors, students selected to lead internet safety initiatives in their schools. These young leaders learned practical strategies to guide their peers on safe digital practices, handle online risks, and promote responsible internet use. This initiative is part of our Child Online Protection agenda, featuring programs like ILearn2Teach, E-Police Academy, Digital Parenting Webinars, the Soccerthon, African Youth for Online Safety, and KNUST Peer Counselors workshops, together fostering digital resilience and safer online spaces for young people. These efforts are especially critical given Ghana’s rapid digital growth: about 69.9% of Ghanaians (roughly 24.3 million people) are now internet users. Yet, many young students still face barriers: over 2.6 million children aged 6–17 did not use any ICT device in a recent period, and around 41.5% reported not accessing the internet in the same timeframe. By training Cyber Ambassadors, we’re helping bridge this divide, empowering students to advocate for safe, inclusive, and responsible internet use from within their schools.
