The Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF) successfully hosted the National Digital Parenting Conference, bringing together parents, educators, child protection professionals, policymakers, and technology stakeholders to discuss the growing challenges and opportunities of raising children in today’s digital world.

The conference served as a platform for meaningful conversations around responsible internet use, online safety, digital parenting strategies, and the shared responsibility of protecting children as they engage with technology.

Addressing Today’s Digital Challenges

With children spending more time online for education, communication, entertainment, and social interaction, parents face new challenges that did not exist a generation ago. From excessive screen time to cyberbullying, online exploitation, misinformation, and privacy concerns, digital parenting requires awareness and practical skills.

Throughout the conference, speakers shared valuable insights into how families can create healthy digital habits while encouraging children to explore technology safely and responsibly.

Topics covered included:

  • Building healthy screen time routines
  • Protecting children’s online privacy
  • Recognizing online grooming and exploitation
  • Preventing cyberbullying
  • Responsible social media use
  • Digital wellbeing and mental health
  • Family communication in the digital age

Expert Speakers and Interactive Sessions

The conference featured presentations from cybersecurity professionals, educators, child protection advocates, psychologists, and digital literacy experts. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, panel sessions, and practical workshops designed to equip parents with actionable tools they could immediately apply at home.

Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions, share personal experiences, and learn from experts about current online trends affecting children and young people.

Strengthening Partnerships for Child Online Protection

One of the key themes of the conference was collaboration. Creating a safer digital environment requires the combined efforts of parents, schools, government institutions, technology companies, civil society organizations, and local communities.

GISF reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders across Ghana to strengthen digital literacy programs, expand public education campaigns, and promote policies that prioritize child online safety.

Looking Forward

The success of the National Digital Parenting Conference reflects the growing importance of digital parenting education in Ghana. As technology continues to evolve, families need ongoing support to help children navigate the online world safely and confidently.

The Ghana Internet Safety Foundation will continue organizing educational events, training programs, and community initiatives that empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge needed to raise informed, responsible, and digitally resilient children.
