The Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF) is proud to announce the expansion of its Cybersafety Ambassadors Program to more than 50 schools across Ghana, marking an important milestone in the Foundation’s mission to promote safer and more responsible internet use among young people.

The initiative empowers students to become peer leaders who promote positive digital citizenship, raise awareness about online safety, and encourage responsible online behavior within their schools and communities.

Empowering Students to Lead

The Cybersafety Ambassadors Program recognizes that young people are often the best advocates for creating positive change among their peers. Through comprehensive training sessions, selected student ambassadors gain practical knowledge about internet safety, cyberbullying prevention, online privacy, digital wellbeing, and responsible social media use.

These ambassadors then share what they have learned through classroom discussions, awareness campaigns, school events, and peer-to-peer engagement, helping to create a culture of digital responsibility throughout their schools.

Building Safer School Communities

As the program continues to grow, participating schools are seeing increased awareness of online risks and stronger conversations around respectful digital behavior.

Students receive guidance on important topics such as:

  • Protecting personal information online
  • Identifying scams and phishing attempts
  • Preventing cyberbullying
  • Reporting harmful online content
  • Practicing respectful communication on social media
  • Maintaining a healthy balance between online and offline activities

Teachers and school administrators also play a vital role by supporting ambassadors and integrating digital safety discussions into school activities.

Collaboration for Greater Impact

The expansion of the program has been made possible through the collaboration of schools, educators, parents, community leaders, and partner organizations that share GISF’s commitment to child online protection.

By working together, these partnerships help ensure that students receive consistent guidance and practical resources to navigate today’s digital environment safely and confidently.

Looking Ahead

With the program now active in more than 50 schools, GISF aims to continue expanding its reach to additional regions across Ghana. The Foundation remains committed to equipping young people with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills needed to become responsible digital citizens.

Through initiatives like the Cybersafety Ambassadors Program, GISF continues to build a generation of informed internet users who can help create safer online spaces for themselves, their peers, and their communities.
