Accra, Ghana – 29th August, 2025
Chance for Childhood (CfC), a non-governmental organisation dedicated to creating inclusive education and child protection systems in Ghana, and the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF), the leading NGO promoting online safety in Ghana, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing child online protection, digital literacy, and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
The MoU signing reflects the growing urgency of addressing online risks faced by children and vulnerable groups, while also promoting digital inclusion and responsible internet use across Ghana.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly implement programmes in the following key areas:
1. Enhancing Online Safety and Digital Literacy – Developing and rolling out training programmes focused on online safety, digital well-being, and responsible internet use.
2. Advocacy for Vulnerable Groups – Raising awareness and creating tailored resources for women, educators, and communities, with a particular emphasis on children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
3. Capacity Building – Equipping educators, parents, guardians, and policymakers with the tools and knowledge to engage effectively in child online protection initiatives.
4. Community Engagement – Organising grassroots events, workshops, and hackathons that promote safe online practices among women, young adults, and children.
5. Other Areas of Common Interest – Exploring additional areas of collaboration as both parties deem necessary to advance their shared mission.
Mr. Abdul-Ghaffar Adam, Country Representative of Chance for Childhood, said:
“This partnership underscores our commitment to ensuring that every child, particularly those with disabilities and other special educational needs, is safe and empowered in today’s digital world.”
Mr. Gabriel Ofori Appiah, Director of Outreach at the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation, added: “By combining our expertise, we are taking a decisive step toward creating safer digital spaces, strengthening digital literacy, and protecting the most at-risk groups in our communities.”
On his part, Mr. Emmanuel Adinkrah, President of GISF, Founder of the Trust and Safety Africa Academy, and a member of the Trust and Safety Professional Association (TSPA), said the move marked a significant milestone in our collective effort to promote safer and more inclusive digital spaces for children in Ghana.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to enhancing online safety and advancing digital literacy across the country.
By working together, we aim to empower children with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world responsibly, safely, and confidently. Our joint efforts will focus on raising awareness, developing educational programs, and implementing practical tools to protect our youth from online risks.
This collaboration is more than a formal agreement; it is a pledge to prioritize the well-being and future of Ghana’s children in the digital age.
We believe that through unity and shared purpose, we can create a safer and more informed online environment where every child can thrive.
Thank you for your support and dedication to this vital cause. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.”
