Stakeholders meeting
When it comes to keeping children safe online in Ghana, no single institution can do it alone, and that reality is becoming more urgent by the day.
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen child online protection, Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF) joined key stakeholders across the ecosystem for important conversations including Praesidio Safeguarding Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Ghana Police Service (Atebubu Divisional Police Headquarters), WiLDAF Ghana, and Defence for Children International Ghana.
What emerged from these engagements is clear: Ghana is making strides, but the digital risks facing children are evolving quickly. With more young people coming online every day, exposure to threats like online exploitation continues to rise.
Data shows that children make up a significant portion of internet users globally, yet protective systems, from reporting channels to response frameworks, are still playing catch-up. Locally, this highlights the need for stronger coordination across sectors.
Encouragingly, there is a growing commitment among stakeholders to move beyond awareness into action, improving collaboration, strengthening safeguards, and prioritizing prevention, not just response.
At GISF, we see partnerships like these as the backbone of sustainable impact. Protecting children online requires a connected system, where policy, enforcement, education, and community efforts all work together.
Because a safer internet for children doesn’t happen by chance, it’s built through deliberate, collective effort.
