NOSS DAY 1

What a way to wrap up Day 1 of NOSS 2026.

The final sessions brought us back to what matters most: how Ghana responds when harm happens online, and how we can respond better, faster, and together.

We heard from Terence Addey Adams (Ghana Police Service – CID/Cybercrime Unit) on the realities of tackling online child sexual exploitation, including evolving threats like AI-enabled abuse, grooming, sextortion, and live-streamed exploitation. The discussion also highlighted key barriers such as encrypted platforms, limited capacity, low reporting rates, and the complexity of cross-border investigations.

We also saw a glimpse of what locally grounded innovation can look like, as Esmond Adjei (Dipper Lab / MindSafe Ghana) shared MindSafe, an AI-powered prototype built from engagements with children and schools, aimed at detecting and preventing online grooming early.

A standout moment was Dr Isaac Tweneboah-Koduah MBA, CMktr (UK, GH), AASBC-USA’s energetic session, “One Change I Will Champion,” with a quote that hit home: “We teach children how to cross the road, but we hand them smartphones without teaching them how to survive online.”

Because the truth is: “We cannot outsource child online protection, it must be our personal responsibility”.

Closing reflections were delivered by Paul Phillips (Head of Strategy & Policy, Praesidio Safeguarding) and Emmanuel Adinkra- CISM MCSE PMP (Ghana Internet Safety Foundation), reinforcing a simple truth: protecting children online takes commitment, coordination, and action beyond the Summit.
