In line with our commitment to safeguarding children online, Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF) participated in the Cyber Security Authority’s Stakeholder Coordination Meeting on 8th August 2025, held in Accra, as part of national efforts to advance Child Online Protection (COP). Representing GISF was Derrick Sosoo our Partnership and Programs Lead, who actively contributed to discussions on strengthening collaboration, assessing current interventions, and progressing strategic initiatives for a safer digital environment for children. Derrick shared GISF’s experiences from community engagements, capacity-building workshops, and awareness campaigns, highlighting practical approaches for integrating online safety education into schools and empowering parents with digital safety skills. The meeting brought together key stakeholders including UNICEF Ghana UNODC the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection – Ghana, Ghana Education Service, Mobile Network Operators, and other Civil Society Organisations to enhance COP efforts under the National Child Online Protection Framework. We also wish to acknowledge Nelson Herald Darko for his continued engagement in advancing child online protection initiatives in Ghana. Key takeaways from the meeting included the need for more structured multi-stakeholder coordination, sustained public awareness drives, and the integration of child online safety into national curricula to ensure long-term impact. GISF’s participation strengthened partnerships with relevant agencies and provided valuable insights to inform our ongoing projects targeting vulnerable online communities. Speaking at the event, the Ag. Deputy Director-General for Regulatory Operations at the CSA,Dr. Jamal Tonzua Seidu, stressed the collective responsibility of regulators, service providers, educators, parents, and advocates in achieving the vision of a secure and empowering digital space for every Ghanaian child.
